Animals on passenger transport vehicles
In general guide dogs and guide dogs in training must be carried but any other animals will be carried subject to company policy or at the driver’s discretion. Contact the operator for more information.

Stagecoach Buses: Guide Dogs may accompany their owners.

Birkenhead Transport Ltd: Guide dogs only.

Howick & Eastern Bus Co: Accepts blind and deaf trained dogs and guide dogs in training under supervision of their care-giver.

Urban Express: Guide dogs will be carried and some other animals, but only at the driver’s discretion.

Ritchies/Whenuapai: Guide dogs and trainee guide dogs only. Pets not allowed.

Bayes Transport: Guide dogs and trainee guide dogs only. Pets not allowed.

TranzMetro: Guide dogs and trainee guide dogs only. Pets not allowed.

Fullers Ferries: Dogs will be carried on all sailings but are restricted to outer deck areas and must be on leads. The crew may require some dogs to be muzzled. On Waiheke ferries there is a $2.50 one-way charge for dogs but on all other non-tourist trips they are carried free. Other small animals must be in cages or in similar secure confinement.

Great Barrier Ferry requires a booking for dogs. Dogs are not allowed on the Rangitoto or Tiri Tiri Ferries. (These Islands Are Wildlife Sanctuaries).

Pacific Ferries: All pets must be in transportation cages or boxes. Dogs must be on a lead. There is no charge for pets on Pacific Ferries.
